It's that time of the year when we prepare our souls for the resurrection of Jesus. Ash Wednesday is followed by 40 days and 40 nights of lent. Our lives become different, and the hustle and bustle slow down.
Watching the passion of christ is an excellent way to start. I watched it back in August of 2022 and cried like a baby. Since Im older and able to understand it better, the significance of it was more understanding.
The passion is based on real-life events and influenced by the words of saint Catherine Emmerich. Mel Gibson was able to get ahold of a book that documented what the saint saw during the passion and information unknown to others.
Even if you are not Christian, and still is a very sobering movie.
Supposedly, if any other man had been crucified, he would have died because of the suffering and injury. Jesus survived the scourging at the pillar, carried the cross to the top of the hill, and suffered the nailing to the cross. He would have had to lift himself up to breathe.
Take your time and reflect on his passion and the events leading up to it and after.
